Beginner / Intro to Rope Bowl Sarasota- March 2026

Ever wondered how rope bowls are made? Come learn the art of rope sewing and create beautiful, functional pieces in this beginner-friendly class. We’ll cover the core basics of rope sewing—tools, materials, starting a flat coil, shaping rounds,  and building simple walls. You’ll also experiment with decorative stitching, wrapped rope accents, and easy finishing techniques. By the end, you’ll understand how rope behaves under the needle and feel confident continuing on your own. Expect hands-on sewing, plenty of guidance, and a relaxed, creative atmosphere.  

Take Home Project: One or two completed key rings, two matching 5” coasters, and one small bowl to hold the coasters (approximate size 6” w x 2” h); Additional projects may be started if time allows.

Pre-Requisite: Students must have a working knowledge of their machine and have basic sewing experience.  

Requirements: Sewing machine capable of zig zag stitch required, along with a presser foot to accommodate the zig zag stitch. Materials details on supply list.
