How to Add Texture to Rope Bowl
March 20th in Naples with Lisa Curt of Papaya Cottage
Add texture and creative detail to your rope sewing as you create a rope bowl or wall hanging using a mix of rope and decorative materials. In this hands-on class, you’ll learn how to build a smooth, stable base and shape your project into either a basket or a flat hanging design while refining your control of basket wall height, angle, and structure. You’ll explore ways to incorporate ribbons, yarn, cording and more to add color, texture, and dimension—whether as wrapped accents, layered strands, or subtle decorative details. Finishing touches such as braided rims, simple hangers, or bead embellishments will also be demonstrated to personalize your work. Students who finish early may continue working in the same style, creating a coordinating piece using similar techniques. You’ll take home a completed textured bowl (approximately 7-9" wide x 2" high) or wall hanging (approximately 7-9") and the inspiration to experiment further with materials and design.
Level: Confident Beginner (or Beginner Plus) Pre-Requisite: Completion of Intro to Rope Sewing Beginner or prior hands-on experience sewing rope projects. We do not cover foundational basics in this session.
