Round Rope Bowl/Basket Class Sarasota
Wednesday, November 12th from 10:30am - 4:00pm with Lisa Curt of Papaya Cottage IN SARASOTA
Students will learn how to create a round basket featuring a center fabric or cork base, with optional wrapped rope on the basket walls, and a finished rim or handle detail. They will learn techniques for preparing and securing a center fabric or cork piece, attaching it to the rope base coil, building smooth sidewalls, and shaping the basket. Students will also learn how to measure and cut fabric strips for wrapped rope segments, and how to finish the rim with a basic knot and bead or with a single handle option. OPTIONAL Techniques may be introduced depending on time and interest, offering variations for future projects: Creating wrapped strands of rope (in lieu of a full solid fabric or cork base), appliqué, decorative stitching, quilted options for the base coil, basic handle with or without bead accents, additional finishing variations (fringe, knot/bead, loop/bead, coil). Students will take home a completed round basket and the skills to confidently create more at home.
Pre-Requisite: Intro to Rope Sewing Beginner Class recommended, or prior experience sewing rope projects.
