Textured Rope Bowl Class Sarasota
Wednesday, December 10th from 10:30 - 4:00 IN SARASOTA
Students will learn how to create a round wall hanging or basket using a combination of rope and decorative materials such as yarn, cording, sari silk, and more. The class will focus on starting a controlled round base coil, building smooth walls or a flat piece (for a wall hanging), and shaping the form as desired. Students will explore techniques for incorporating yarns, cording, and sari silk in creative ways — either as full wraps, accents, or textural elements — to create highly individualized and textured decorative pieces.
Students will also learn how to complete a finished rim and hanger (for wall hanging). OPTIONAL TECHNIQUES may be introduced depending on time and interest, offering variations for future projects: Layered textural effects with mixed materials, braided finish (attaching separate braid vs. attaching one piece braid) Students will take home a completed round wall hanging (approximately 7-9”) or round basket (approximately 7-9”w x 2”h) with optional braided finish, and the confidence to further explore decorative rope sewing on their own.
