In this intermediate-level class, you’ll create a versatile Oval Gift Carrier perfect for flowers, specialty bottles, hostess gifts, and seasonal displays while learning oval construction, shaping, and handle techniques. Beginning with an elongated oval base, you’ll build shallow sidewalls and choose a traditional carrier handle or a coiled handle design. Optional design variations, including a bottle-style opening, allow you to personalize your finished project.
You Will Learn How To:
• Create and shape an elongated oval rope base and sidewalls
• Construct and attach two styles of rope handles
• Explore handle variations and finishing options
Take Home Project: One completed Oval Gift Carrier 12 inches wide x 2 inches high (not including handle).
Final size, shape, and design will vary based on individual technique and creative choices. Some may
have time to complete more than one variation. A written instruction guide with tips will be provided.
Pre-Requisite: This is not a beginner class. Intro to Rope Sewing Beginner Class or equivalent
hands-on experience with rope sewing is recommended.
Requirements: Sewing machine capable of a zigzag stitch; presser foot suitable for zigzag stitching;
extension table for your machine. Additional materials listed on the supply list.
