Teacup/Pincushion Rope Bowl Class - September - Sarasota

This class focuses on shaping smaller rope forms while creating decorative teacup and saucer sets. You may explore wrapped rope, decorative stitching, or double-rope construction styles while learning proportion, flare, handle attachment, and finishing details. From bright to pastel, bold to subdued, this project can be adapted in many ways to suit your own creative style. Make one or make all three!
Optional pincushion inserts and simple embellishments may also be added.
You Will Learn How To:
• Shape and build smaller rope forms
• Create and attach a rope handle
• Explore wrapped rope, decorative stitching, or double-rope construction techniques
Take Home Project:
• One or more rope teacup and saucer sets, approximately 5-6” wide x 2.5” high
• Optional permanent pincushion insert may be added
• Final size, shape, and decorative details will vary based on individual shaping and technique.
Pre-Requisite: Intro to Rope Sewing Beginner Class or prior rope sewing experience recommended. Students should already be comfortable forming a flat base, shaping sidewalls, and maintaining consistent zigzag stitching while sewing with rope. Best suited for confident beginners to intermediate students.
Requirements: Sewing machine capable of a zigzag stitch; presser foot suitable for zigzag stitching; extension table for your machine. Additional materials listed on the supply list.
Students are responsible for materials. There is no kit or pattern. Walnut shell filler for pincushions will be available for a small materials fee of $1.50.
