The Wave Rope Bowl Class - Sarasota
Join Lisa Curt in Sarasota on Wednesday, July 15
This intermediate to advanced level class focuses on creating movement within your rope bowl. You’ll learn how to guide fabric strips to form a “wave” as your bowl grows. Carry that movement throughout the entire piece (full wave) or work in sections for a more open, banded effect (partial wave).
The focus is on control, consistency, and understanding how fabric placement determines the final result as you build a shallow to medium-depth bowl. Finish the rim with a clean edge, or add a twisted rim using a combination of natural rope and fabric-wrapped sections to continue the movement through the edge.
This class features fabric strip wrapping techniques. Bowl size, wave pattern, and the twisted rim can be adjusted so you can work at a pace that feels right for you.
You Will Learn How To:
• Create a wave effect using fabric-wrapped rope
• Control spacing, tension, and shaping as the bowl grows
• Choose your finish: full wave or partial spiral, with a clean rim or finished rim with jute edging
Take Home Project: One rope bowl with wave design, approximately 7-9 inches wide x 2-3 inches high.
Final size and shape will vary based on individual shaping and technique.
